Matthew Schembri: Mljet writings

During his visit to Mljet, Matthew Schembri combined a map of the island with an interview he'd had with Amlica to create the experimental piece you can see above.

The text is included below for ease of readibility:

describe yourself in five words. quiet; creative; thinker; hard-working; grateful. why do you write? i have to. what would be your inspiration, preoccupation regarding your own poetry? i’m inspired by art and nature, i think i’m mostly preoccupied by innovation. five pieces of literature, authors you like, admire, cherish? so many! so, i’m going to mention those that are important for the project that i’ve been worked on here – a children’s book: trevor żahra, clare azzopardi. best experiences on island of mljet. there is this path between the apartment i stayed in here and the supermarket, odysseus cave. walking along that path became almost like a ritual. it’s very interesting that it leads to two very different places!
