Ulysses' Shelter: building writers-in-residence network

organizes literary residences for young writers, translators and editors. The project will begin at the end of 2018 at three locations - in Ljubljana, Larissa and in Pomena on the island of Mljet, organized by Sandorf publishing house from Zagreb, in partnership with Slovenian Writers' Society (DSP) from Ljubljana and publishing house Thraka from Larissa. Each resident will spend three weeks on each location from December 2018 to October 2019, and the idea of the project is to gradually extend the network of partners to other European countries in the future and to bring together artists from around the world and expose the creative potential of various European locations.
Tovar.hr is the main means of informing about the Ulysses' Shelter project - about the residents, their work, and events within the project (readings, workshops, conferences and social events with residents).

Slovene Writers' Association

The Slovene Writers’ Association is a voluntary, independent and non-profit organisation that serves and furthers the professional, social and cultural interests of Slovene writers. The activities of the Association encompass the entire Slovenian cultural space regardless of state borders.

The Slovene Writers’ Association defends, under existing legislation and in accordance with its own nearly a century-and-a-half old tradition, both creative freedom and the position of Slovene literature and its writers. The Association participates in developing laws regulating authors’ moral, material, social and rights, among others. It organizes readings, lectures and meetings, and takes part in cultural events and activities (publishing, librarianship, printing, film, theatre, artistic awards etc.) both at home and abroad.

SWA's residency is the Dane Zajc Writers’ Studio, located in Praprotnikova Street (Praprotnikova ulica) in Ljubljana, a 10-minute walk from the city centre. In this apartment Dane Zajc was living and working for some years at the end of his life – so the residence features many testimonies to his life (e.g. paintings he was receiving as gifts, furniture he used, some personal objects).

The North Side - Center for Research and Promotion of Urban Culture (CIP) is a non-profit association that has existed for twenty years. Established in 1998, it operates in the areas of culture and art, urbanism, youth mobility and social dialogue.
