Ulysses' Shelter: building writers-in-residence network

organizes literary residences for young writers, translators and editors. The project will begin at the end of 2018 at three locations - in Ljubljana, Larissa and in Pomena on the island of Mljet, organized by Sandorf publishing house from Zagreb, in partnership with Slovenian Writers' Society (DSP) from Ljubljana and publishing house Thraka from Larissa. Each resident will spend three weeks on each location from December 2018 to October 2019, and the idea of the project is to gradually extend the network of partners to other European countries in the future and to bring together artists from around the world and expose the creative potential of various European locations.
Tovar.hr is the main means of informing about the Ulysses' Shelter project - about the residents, their work, and events within the project (readings, workshops, conferences and social events with residents).

Sandorf Publishing and Literary Agency

Sandorf was founded in 2007, and since then has been working as a publishing house and literary agency representing writers from the region internationally. It is the first professional literary agency in Croatia, and its success is demonstrated by dozens of published books, signed contracts and useful contacts with publishers from all around the world made by Sandorf for Croatian writers and writers from the region.

It publishes local authors and translations of important European editions. In bookshops and libraries, Sandorf is represented by the following imprints: Avantura (prominent authors from the ex-Yugoslav area), Predikat (biographies of prominent figures in the humanities who made a mark on the 20th century), Adventure (contemporary European and world literature), Zirone (significant works from the areas of history, sociology, anthropology, etc.), Sandorf&Mizantrop (the most valuable works of contemporary philosophy), as well as special projects (the Selected Works of Robert Graves, the Selected Works of Nicos Kazantzakis, etc.).

Sandorf's residency is located in the Kulijer building, owned by the Mljet National Park, a half an hour walk away from the village of Pomena on the north of the island.

The North Side - Center for Research and Promotion of Urban Culture (CIP) is a non-profit association that has existed for twenty years. Established in 1998, it operates in the areas of culture and art, urbanism, youth mobility and social dialogue.
