Ulysses' Shelter: building writers-in-residence network

organizes literary residences for young writers, translators and editors. The project began at the end of 2018 in three locations - Ljubljana, Larissa and Pomena on the island of Mljet, organized by Sandorf Publishing from Zagreb, in partnership with Slovenian Writers' Society (DSP) from Ljubljana and publishing house Thraka from Larissa. Each resident spends three weeks at each location from December 2018 to October 2019. The network of partners has since extended to include Literary Association Krokodil from Belgrade, Literature Across Frontiers from Wales, Inizjamed from Malta, Culture Reset from the Czech Republic, and Mallorca Film Commission from Spain. The idea of the project is to bring together artists from around the world and expose the creative potential of various European locations. Tovar.hr is the main means of informing about the Ulysses' Shelter project - about the residents, their work, and events within the project (readings, workshops, conferences and social events with residents).

At this year's, 11th Thessalian Poetry Festival, two Ulysses Shelther residents presented their work - Croatian poet Lara Mitraković, and Slovene poet Sergej Harlamov. During the 5-day festival program in 4 Thessalian cities - Larissa, Volos, Trikala, and Karditsa, the poets participated in two poetry readings each, and during the presentation of the program, the members of the project partner organizations Thanos Gogos (Thraka) and Alexandra Büchler (Literature Across Frontiers) spoke about the importance of translation and international cooperation.
This was Lara Mitraković's second stay in Larissa, as she was Sandorf's this year's poet laureate of the program, while for Sergej Harlamov the presentation of his work at the Thessalian Poetry Festival was a part of his two-week residential stay in Larissa.
