organizes literary residences for young writers, translators and editors. The project began at the end of 2018 in three locations - Ljubljana, Larissa and Pomena on the island of Mljet, organized by Sandorf Publishing from Zagreb, in partnership with Slovenian Writers' Society (DSP) from Ljubljana and publishing house Thraka from Larissa. Each resident spends three weeks at each location from December 2018 to October 2019. The network of partners has since extended to include Literary Association Krokodil from Belgrade, Literature Across Frontiers from Wales, Inizjamed from Malta, Culture Reset from the Czech Republic, and Mallorca Film Commission from Spain. The idea of the project is to bring together artists from around the world and expose the creative potential of various European locations. Tovar.hr is the main means of informing about the Ulysses' Shelter project - about the residents, their work, and events within the project (readings, workshops, conferences and social events with residents).
During each residency, guests will publish blog entries through which the interested public will be able to track their journey through the locations included in the project.

On Tovar.hr, you will be able to find the catalog of publications and borrow the books.

The process of mapping the literary spots of island Mljet took place between June 2020 and June 2022. The goal of the research was to find the remnants of the family libraries and books that were passed on from generation to generation in small island communities. Because of the specific rural characteristic of Mljet’s history, part of the research focused on the oral history of the island.
The short films accompanied with introductory texts are integrated on an interactive map of Mljet island where all visitors to Tovar.hr can view them and browse through different literary locations on the island. Click on the location you want to learn more about.
